He was baptized June 5, 1904 in St. John American Lutheran Church in Sterling, and confirmed there on April 10, 1921. On April 12, 1929 he married Lora Happel, and they lived on farms in the Sterling area until 1959 when they moved to Greeley, Colo. Read More	The Johnson County Courier Thursday, October 5, 1972 Sec. 2, Pg. 2 Edward G. Eilers, son of Gade and Caroline Panko Eilers, was born May 23, 1904 at Sterling, Nebr. He was baptized June 5, 1904 in St. John American Lutheran Church in Sterling, and confirmed there on April 10, 1921. On April 12, 1929 he married Lora Happel, and they lived on farms in the Sterling area until 1959 when they moved to Greeley, Colo. There Mr. Eilers was engaged in the construction industry, and worked with maintenance at the Highland Hills Country Club. After a period of illness he died in Greeley, Colo., on Sept. 25, 1972, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 2 days. Surviving are his wife, Lora; one daughter, Mrs. James (Ruth) Nealy, Greeley, Colo.; one son, Norman E. Eilers, Bradford, Pa.; five grandchildren, Steven and Scott Nealy, James, Jon and Kathyron Eilers. There are also three brothers, John G., Christy and Martin Eilers, all of Sterling; and four sisters, Mrs. Otto (Alvina) Panko, Mrs. Wm. (Anna) Panko, Mrs. Fred (Leta) Rengstorf, Sterling, and Mrs. Louise Schmidt, Adams. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. R. Debner at the Zink Mortuary in Sterling, Friday afternoon, Sept. 29. Pallbearers were Boyd Reed, Delmar Eilers, Douglas Happel, Scott Nealy, Steven Nealy and Don Happel. Burial was in the Sterling cemetery.
