Read More	From a newspaper: Amelia Ida Eilers, daughter of Gade Eilers and Caroline (Panko) Eilers, was born March 22, 1900, at Sterling. She died in Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh Tuesday, July 29, 1969, following a lingering illness. Her age was 69 years, four months and seven days. She was baptized May 20, 1900, by Rev. H. Wendt of St. John American Lutheran Church in Sterling. Through this church she received her early Christian training and was confirmed there on April 9, 1916, by Rev. Herman Wunderlich. It was at this church that on October 19, 1921, she was united in marriage with Louis W. Happel. To this union two children were born. Mrs. Happel attended school in and near Sterling and graduated with the class of 1919. Before her marriage she taught two years in rural schools near Sterling. All her life whe lived on farms in the Sterling vicinity. She was active in church and community affairs as long as her health would permit. She was a member of Extension Clubs for over 30 years and led a 4-H club for several years. She was a woman of many talents as well as being a devoted wife and loving mother. One sister, Minnie Eilers, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband; son, Donald Happel of Hooper; daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Lucille) Stone of Kearney; grandsons, Randol Happel and Lyndon Stone; granddaughters, Kay Happel and Karen Stone; a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law; brothers, John, Christy, and Martin Eilers of Sterling and Edward Eilers of Greeley, Colo., and sisters, Mrs. Mary Schmidt, Mrs. Anna Panko and Mrs. Fred (Leta) Rengstorf of Sterling and Mrs. Louis Schmidt of Adams. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, August 1, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Sterling with Rev. Merlin Sjoberg officiating. Pallbearers were John Aden, Theodore Bartels, Orville Wusk, William Wusk, Ralph Schmidt and Kenneth Schmidt. Interment was in the Sterling Cemetery with Zink Mortuary in charge.
