Description	:	Paul Edward Roberts, the oldest son of Edward and Sally May Roberts, was born April 17, 1898, on a farm near Douglas, Nebraska, and died at 10:30 p.m. September 3, 1992, at the Lamoni Manor in Lamoni, Iowa, at the age of 94 years. Read More	Paul Edward Roberts, the oldest son of Edward and Sally May Roberts, was born April 17, 1898, on a farm near Douglas, Nebraska, and died at 10:30 p.m. September 3, 1992, at the Lamoni Manor in Lamoni, Iowa, at the age of 94 years. When Paul was still an infant, the family moved with his aunt and sister Vera to a farm near Tabor, Fremont County, Iowa. While his family was living there, two more children joined the family, Eugene LaPorte and Elizabeth Elinor. In 1916 the family moved to a farm near Lamoni. On Thanksgiving Day of that year Eugene died at age 17 as the result of a football injury. In March 1918 the family moved to Lamoni and resided on North Clark Street. Paul worked as a mechanic for some time, and then he and Ralph Silver formed the partnership of Silver and Roberts. They operated a filling station and garage and sold automobiles for more than forty years. In June 1939 Paul married Cora Grace Leverson. They celebrated their fifty-third anniversary in June 1992. After Paul's retirement, he and Cora spent many years in their lovely home on North Silver Street. Paul took joy and satisfaction in caring for his home and tending the beautiful roses he loved so much. Paul's health began to fail, and he suffered a broken hip. He later went to reside at Lamoni Manor where he remained for nearly three years until his death. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene, his step-son, Vernon Leverson; two brothers-in-law, Oscar Midgorden and Wilbur Pratt; and four nephews, sons of his sister, Vera, Eugene, Glen, Kent, and Joe. Paul is survived by his wife, Cora Roberts of Lamoni; two sisters, Vera Midgorden of Leon, Iowa, and Elizabeth Pratt of Lamoni, one nephew Wayne Prall and wife Rose Ann of Des Moines, Ia., grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 1992, at the Lamoni RLDS Church in Lamoni, Iowa with Bishop Will Raiser and Elder Leroy Trammell officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni. Funeral services were conducted by Slade-O'Donell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni.
