Description	:	GROVE - Edward W. Grove, 64, Hiawatha, died early Sunday morning, January 10, 1982, at the Atchison Community Hospital where he had been a patient since December 29. He had been in poor health in recent months. He was born October 6, 1917 in Brown County near Padonia, the son of Miles and Cora Gillespie Grove. Grove, 64, Hiawatha, died early Sunday morning, January 10, 1982, at the Atchison Community Hospital where he had been a patient since December 29. He had been in poor health in recent months. He was born October 6, 1917 in Brown County near Padonia, the son of Miles and Cora Gillespie Grove. He farmed for many years southwest of Hiawatha and was recently retired after 25 years service, from the Kansas Fish and Game Commission as Area Manager of the Brown and Nemaha State Lakes. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in General Patton's Tank Corps for 3½ years. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious service. He was a member of Hiawatha V F W Post 5210 and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Hiawatha. An avid conservationist, he was active in various wildfire management groups and a past president of the Leona Sportmans Club. He was married to Betty Mathewson in Hiawatha on April 14, 1947. She survives at the home. He is also survived by one brother, Roy Grove of Atchison. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Beth Grove, Cleo Dickens and Kathryn Sierk. Funeral services will be held from St. Ann's Church at 10:30 Tuesday morning, January 12, with the Rev. Roderic Giller, OSB, officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery.
