Description	:	Edwin (Ed) Sidney Pitt, 76, Missouri Valley, died July 23 at his home. Ed was born Dec. 4, 1928 in Missouri Valley to Jess E. and Betty E. (West) Pitt. He attended school in Missouri Valley and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1947. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Ed was born Dec. 4, 1928 in Missouri Valley to Jess E. and Betty E. (West) Pitt. He attended school in Missouri Valley and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1947. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was married to Jacqueline Vittitoe and she died July 24, 1963. Ed was employed for 31 years with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1983. He lived in Missouri Valley and Council Bluffs areas all of his life. Ed was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple, Sioux City, Telephone Pioneers, and was a former mayor of Missouri Valley. He also served as Councilman-at-Large and was a former member of the Missouri Valley Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jacqueline. Survivors include his son, Jim L. Pitt of Missouri Valley; grandsons, Andrew Pitt and Brandon Pitt, both of Missouri Valley; and sister-in-law, Marietta Ripley, Missouri Valley. A Masonic Service was held July 25. Funeral Services were held July 26 at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, Pastor Bob Dagit, officiant. Casket bearers were: Jon Pitt, Rick West, Mike West, Brandon Pitt, Pat West, Rick Boll, and Andrew Pitt. Interment was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Missouri Valley. Military Honors were conducted by Julius Muller Post No. 337, American Legion, Missouri Valley.
