Description	:	Eddie was born two days before President James Garfield was assassinated. Eddie attended the Germany School House on Houck Rd. in Rushville Twp. in Fairfield Co., adjacent to Mt. Read More	Eddie was born two days before President James Garfield was assassinated. Eddie attended the Germany School House on Houck Rd. in Rushville Twp. in Fairfield Co., adjacent to Mt. Zion (Huddle) Cemetery. He had light blue eyes & light hair, but was bald from the time he was 25. Eddie was a farmer & did some carpentry work. Except for his brother, John "Chick" who was also a farmer, all of his brothers were carpenters by trade. Eddie & Lou's home was at Rt.#5, Rushcreek Twp., later known as 6910 Ireland Rd. in North Berne. They had a farm with a spring over the hill, well water, an outhouse, orchards, grape arbors and a watermelon patch. They raised chickens and butchered hogs. The couple had 12 children altogether. Their older daughters said their Grandma Mary Jane Fox & Grandpa Nelson Francisco were already gone before any of them were born. Their parents would hitch up the horse & buggy to go to town. In the early 1900s, they remembered crossing the field to catch the Cincinnati & Muskingum Valley RR train in North Berne at Collins Chapel to go to neighboring towns. They went to church at there where there were a lot of structures for people to gather, but all that's left is the cemetery due to the loss of trains. When the family got their first automobile, they called it, "the machine". They'd all listen to their radio shows. Eddie played the harmonica & whistled, and his brother, Walter, used to come out & play the fiddle on a Saturday night. A lot of people would come to hear them play. In later years, the family attended Rushville Methodist Church. Two of the Fox's sons served in WW II, Ralph in Germany & Floyd in Japan. Son, Russ served in Texas. Eddie lived with son Ralph at the Fairfield Co. Home who worked on the grounds. Eddie chewed Red Horse Tobacco, along with the other men who lived there. They all had spitoons sitting outside their room doors. Eddie suffered from dementia for many years before his death. The Foxes are buried near nine of their 12 children and Eddie's brother, Jim. In the late 1900s, Sixth Ave. UM Church in Lancaster was the family church with Mabel, Helen, Gladys, Doid & their children as members. *A Fox Family Reunion took place on Father's Day every year for more than 80 yrs., ending in 2017 due to the health & relocation of the remaining grandchildren. Eddie may have been named after a possible relative by the name of Edmund Wright. His sister Mary Ann (Fox) Turner & brother, John were neighbors with an Edmund Wright in 1870 in Berne Twp. where their Dad, Edmond "Abe" & his possible parents Edmond & Charity (Wright) Fox had lived. (Edmund Wright was b.1804 in PA, moved to Lancaster in 1831 and was a printer for the Ohio Eagle newspaper for 30 yr. So the Foxes may be his parents.)
