Description	:	Viola was the oldest girl of 12 siblings. The last family home was a farm on Rt.#5, Rushcreek Twp., later known as 6910 Ireland Rd. in North Berne. They didn't have much money & the older sisters said when they were little in the early 1900s, they had to walk everywhere, or their parents would hitch up the horse & buggy to go into Lancaster. Read More	Viola was the oldest girl of 12 siblings. The last family home was a farm on Rt.#5, Rushcreek Twp., later known as 6910 Ireland Rd. in North Berne. They didn't have much money & the older sisters said when they were little in the early 1900s, they had to walk everywhere, or their parents would hitch up the horse & buggy to go into Lancaster. On a Saturday night, their Dad's brother, Walter, used to come out & play the fiddle, and their Dad whistled & played the harmonica, or 'juice harp" as he called it. A lot of people would come to hear them play. The kids attended College Hill School and then Rushville or Lancaster High School. Sometimes they would cross a field to Collins Chapel to catch the Cincinnati & Muskingum Valley train to neighboring towns. They went to church there where many of their family members are buried at the cemetery. There where many structures there where people gathered, but the cemetery is all that's left due the loss of the train there. Later the family got their first automobile that they called, "the machine". They also attended Rushville Methodist Church. Viola was married & widowed 3x; 1st husband, Carl Bush, married 32 yrs., 1 daughter; 2nd husband, Tillman Courtright, married 1 yr.; 3rd husband, Vernon Eby married 10 yrs. & together they drove through all 48 continental United States. Viola retired from Anchor Hocking, was a member of Sixth Ave. UM Church, and member of the Olivedale Senior Center. She is buried with her last husband & near her sisters, nieces & nephews.
