Read More	Elderly Matron Passed Away Mrs. Elizabeth Christy, one of the community's elderly and most highly esteemed matrons, died at her home on Maryland Avenue Friday evening of last week after a long illness, at the age of 83 years. Born near Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Revelle and Margaret Sterling, and the widow of the late George A. Christy, founder of the large wholesale seafood firm of George A. Christy & Sons, who died in 1932. Mrs. Christy was above all else a home-loving person, a devoted wife and mother, energetic, and with a keen sense of humor. She was a good judge of human nature, and had made many warm friends who had sincere affection for her. The things of today, as she saw it, needed to be done today, and were done. As a neighbor she was esteemed for her many fine qualities, her helpfulness, and her understanding and sympathy. She had been a lifelong member of Immanuel Methodist Church and enjoyed its services and contributing to its various causes. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. John R. Diehl, pastor of Mariners Methodist Church. Interment was beside her late husband in the Crisfield Cemetery. Bearers were Wilson Sterling, Preston Sterling, Clinton Dize, Sonny Headley, Frank Evans and Frederick Nelson. Surviving her are one brother, Amos Sterling of Crisfield, and the following grandchildren: Richard W. Christy, Mrs. Eddie Ray Daugherty, Mrs. Thomas W. Coulbourne, and Mrs. Ward Handy, all of Crisfield, Mrs. Gordon Glatzel of Baltimore, and Mrs. Byron Lee of Boston, Mass., and seven great-grandchildren.
