WILLIAM EICKMAN Emma Louise Runte was born at Davis, Stephenson county (sic), Illinois, on September 2nd 1864 and died at her home in Republic county (sic), Kan., after a short illness on Friday morning at 10 o'clock Dec. 23rd 1910, aged 46 years 3 months and 23 days. WILLIAM EICKMAN Emma Louise Runte was born at Davis, Stephenson county (sic), Illinois, on September 2nd 1864 and died at her home in Republic county (sic), Kan., after a short illness on Friday morning at 10 o'clock Dec. 23rd 1910, aged 46 years 3 months and 23 days. Both her parents being earnest Christians she was brought up in the faith of the German Evangelistic Reformed church (sic) Just twenty-five years ago, on Dec. 29, 1885 she was married to William Eickman. In the following February the couple removed from Illinois to Republic county (sic), Kan., where amidst an increasing circle of warm friends they have ever since made their home In 1897 thirteen years ago both Mr. and Mrs. Eickman gave themselves definitely to God and united in Christian fellowship with the Methodist church (sic) in Chester. Their married life was a very happy and the advent of seven children brought increased gladness to their home. Love reigned supreme in the family circle, and above all was the earnest wish of both Bro. and Sister Eickman that their young people should be given to God in the morning of life. This desire was fulfilled, and only a few weeks before the Master called her she had the joy of seeing those of her children who had not already done so, take their stand for Christ. She is survived and mourned by her beloved husband, her children the Misses Clara, Carrie, Edna and Florence Eickman, Mrs. John Prefert (sic) of Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. Wm Klingman, and Lawrence, also five brothers and three sisters. A loving and devoted wife and mother. Sister Eickman also made many friends outside the family circle for she had a real kindness of heart that was manifest to all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the home and in the Methodist church (sic), Chestea (sic) by Rev. J.H. Stitt on Monday afternoon. There was a very large attendance of sympathizing friends and neighbors and the flowers bore silent testimony to the esteem of many. One of her favorite hymns "What a Friend we have in Jesus" was sung, and pastor preached from Revelation 7:9. dwelling on the thought that the white robes mentioned therein stand for character, and in the palm branches for victory over self and sin. A large following accompanied the body to the Chester cemetery (sic) where it was lovingly laid to rest. When on my day of life the night is falling And in the wind from unsunned (sic) spaces blown I hear far voices from the darkness calling My feet to paths unknown.
