Hahn and Minnie Walkenhorst, was born on a farm in Johnson County, Nebraska, on March 30, 1906. He was one of seven children. On June 10, 1906, Ervin was baptized in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church north of Johnson by Rev. Conrad Deubler, later on May 29, 1921, he received his confirmation at this same church by Pastor Heinecken. He received his education at the Graf School and grew up young manhood in this same community where he was born. On January 22, 1930, Ervin was united in marriage with Bertha Emilie Clara Blinde, the ceremony being performed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, Nebr. by Rev. G. F. R. Duhrkop, To this union six children were born. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hahn resided on a farm southwest of Johnson for a few years. From 1935 to 1938, they lived in Johnson, owning and operating "Hahn's Cafe". In January of 1938, they became members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, and he still maintained his membership there at the time of his death. They returned to farming until 1959, when they became owners and operators of Hahn's Tavern for eight years. He was also a bus driver for the Johnson Public Schools for 16 years. Mr. Hahn joined the Johnson Police Force in 1963 and became the city Marshal in 1970. He held this position until his passing. Mr. Hahn became ill in late February of this year, He entered the Lutheran Hospital in Omaha on July 9 for surgery. He later entered the community Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Nebr. where he passed away on September 27, 1975. He had reached the age of 69 years, 5 months and 28 days. He died of lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Phyllis Jean, who passed away January 25, 1938, and one sister Francis, who passed away on September 12, 1903. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Bertha, of Johnson; five children: Lorraine of Lincoln, Nebr, Mrs. Joe (IvaDell) Carr of Lincoln, Nebr, Gene of Omaha, Nebr, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Hartell of Hallam, Nebr, and Wayne of Omaha, Nebr; three daughters-in-law, Joyce Jean. Dolores, and Joyce E.; two sons-in-law, Joe and Richard; and eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers, Fred of Auburn, Elmer of Lincoln, Walter of Johnson, Glen of Dayton, Ohio and Arnold of Johnson; other relatives, and many friends. Services were held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, Nebr. and burial was in the church cemetery, west of Johnson.
