The body lay in state at her home Wednesday afternoon and evening. Funeral services were at the Mansfield Funeral Home and were conducted by the Rev. J. M. Strong, a foamier pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Ethel A. Wearin, the daughter of Edward and Jane Anderson was born July 30, 1888 at the farm home near Clarinda. She died September 3, 1951 in the Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. The family moved from their home in Clarinda to their Hawthorne farm, near Red Oak, when she was 5 years old, and she attended the rural school, then graduated from the Red Oak High School in 1906. She then went to Brownell Hall in Omaha finishing in 1908. As a child she joined the Methodist Church, then, while at Brownell Hall, affiliated with St. Mathias Episcopal Church in Omaha. She was married to Josiah F. Wearin of Malvern on September 12, 1912. Two sons were born to them, Josiah F. Junior of Hastings and Edward A. Wearin of Red Oak. Surviving are her husband, their two sons, and six grandchildren, Marie Louise, Jane and Pricilla, daughters of Josiah F. and Mary Louise Wearin; and Elizabeth Cochran, Edward Anderson, Jr., and Sarah, children of Edward and Helen Wearin. Also surviving are two brothers, Walter of Omaha and Cordon of Red Oak; and one sister, Lucy of Peoria, Peoria, Illinois. She often spoke with sincere humility of deep gratitude of the happy life she had and. As a girl she loved the companionship of her father on the farm, riding horseback or driving through the fields, watching the growing crops and absorbing her father’s fine philosophy and his unshakable faith in the good earth and its bounty. Her marriage brought her the supreme happiness as a beautiful family life. Above all else, she loved her family and her home, but her great capacity for friendliness brought her devoted friends from coast to coast, though none wherefore dear to her than the friends of home. Blessed with a gay, friendly, buoyant spirit and an unclenching courage, she met every problem with her head up, and was a tower of strength to her family and to all who new her and loved her. Never was that courage demonstrated more magnificent than in her last illness when she knew what was ahead of her, but loved having friends visiting with her, and always sent them away with a smile.e radiant hospitality of her home was known and loved far and wide. She got so much from life because she gave so much of her vibrant self to life, with no thought for herself bu the joy of giving. Her deep interest in her hoe community led her to accept and enjoy any acts of service asked for her for the good of that community. Her loyalty and devotion to the Presbyterian Church in Malvern were constant and deeply sincere, a never failing inspiration to your and old members. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Red Oak Chapter HB of PEO. Malvern has lost one of its most widely loved and respected citizens, but it can never lose the memory of the strong beautiful Character who helped to make her home town a better place al of us to live in. Music for the services was furnished by Mrs. Zelma Fletcher. Serving as pall bearers were William D. Baer, James C. Beattie, James R. Beckwith, Richard A. Hyde, James N. Summers, and Allen Wortman.
