Throne, of Munden, Kas., was married to Marion Leland Crump, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crump of Chester, Negr (sic)., Thursday afternoon, June 1, at the home of the brides parents. Preceding the ceremony Miss Mildred Strnad sang "Garden of Roses" At the close of this song Lohengrin's Wedding march was played by Miss Mabel Robbenhouse, a friend of the bride, and the bridal party passed down the stairway through the halls into the back parlor, and there under bower of garden roses, the Rev. Barber read the service which united Miss Throne and Mr. Crump in the holy bonds of wedlock. The bride wore a gown of white, hand embroidered, English batiste and carried an arm boquet (sic) of white roses. The groom was attired in the conventional black. Tables were laid for one hundred and ten guests, and immediately after congratulations a three course dinner was served. The brides room, parlor, gift room and dining room were profusely decorated in pink and white roses. The color scheme (pink and white) was not only carried out in the decorations but also in the dinner. The brides gifts were many and beautiful including hand painted china, linens, silver, Irish crochet, drawnwork and hand embroidered articles, rugs, furniture and several pieces of cut glass. Mr. Crump who is a graduate of the Chestea (sic) High School won a reputation in school as a "jolly good fellow" He is twenty-five years old and Is now engaged in farming. Miss Thorne the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Throne is a refined and accomplished lady of twenty-four. Mr. Crump had secured a farm near Chester, Nebr., furnished the home, and to this place he took his bride on the evening of the wedding. They were accompanied to their new home by many good wishes and Gods Blessings from parents and relatives. May their family jars be only; jars of jelly, jars of jam, jars of beef and potted ham, jars of pickles all home made, jars of orange marmalade, may these be the only jars known, in this newly made home, is the wish of the many friends who were there. ======================= Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, September 13, 1973 Florence Elizabeth Throne, the oldest child of Philip and Susan Duey Throne, was born Nov. 12, 1886 near Chester. She passed away Sept. 10, 1973 at Belleville, Ks., at the age of 86 years, nine months and 28 days. She received her education in the Republic Co. schools near Munden, Ks. On June 1, 1911, she was married to Marion E. Crump. They established their home on a farm west of Chester and lived there until Marion's death in December 1913. Following Marion's death, Florence lived with and cared for her parents, first at their farm home west of Chester and after 1926 in their home in Chester. Florence united with the Methodist Church when she was a young girl and was a faithful attendant at church services until poor health prohibited it. She taught a Sunday School class and held office in the WSCS. Florence enjoyed her home and activities related to it, such as sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion; her sister, Mabel Sawyer; and her brother, Will Throne. Survivors include nieces, Miss Wilma Sawyer of Beatrice, and Lorene Gilkeson and her husband, Harmon, and their four children of Chester; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Stella Throne, also of Chester; a brother-in-law, Harry Crump of Sheridan, Wyo.; and his two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Johnson of Rapid City, S.D., and Mrs. Verna Heier of Ceresco. Funeral services were held at the Chester United Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13, conducted by Rev. Opal L. Crounse. Singers were Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Charles Kleveland, with Mrs. Dolan Frye, organist. Casket bearers were Frank Larkins, Fred Schreiber, E.G. Nesmith, Kenneth Messman, Joe Duey and Edwin Hoops. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
