Throne were quietly married Thursday evening, December 20, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Strain. The Rev. Neal Johnson of the Methodist Episcopal church (sic) officiated. The bride has spent most of her life here and is one of Chester's most popular young women with a wide circle of friends who wish her every happiness. Mr. Throne is a hustling young farmer. They will go to housekeeping at once on a farm two miles west of town. ===================== The Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Wednesday, June 21, 1972 William Carl Throne, son of Phillip (sic) and Susan (Duey) Throne, was born September 8, 1891, in Thayer County, Nebr. He had his school years at Munden, Kans. Mr. Throne was married to Stella May Strain on December 20, 1917, in the bride's home in Chester. To this union two daughters, Ruth Ellen and Marjorie Louise, came. The family farmed about two miles west of Chester. Mr. and Mrs. Throne retired from the farm into Chester six years ago, where Will kept a beautiful home with lovely flowers and lawn. Mr. Throne became a member of the United Methodist Church in Chester in 1912, and together Mr. and Mrs. Throne served their Lord faithfully. Mr. Throne served as trustee on the administrative board of the church. Will became ill in the fall of 1971, and though his illness was particularly distressing, yet he bore it cheerfully for he had a patient, quiet confidence in God. Mr. Throne passed away at Concordia, Ks., in St. Joseph Hospital on June 10, 1972 at the age of 80 years, 9 months, 2 days. He is survived by his companion of 55 years; by his sister, Mrs. Florence Crump of Chester, nieces; and a wealth of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two daughters; and a sister, Mabel Sawyer. The funeral service was held at the Chester United Methodist Church Wednesday morning, June 14, conducted by the Rev. Opal L. Crounse and the Rev. Norman L. Crounse. Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell sang accompanied by Mrs. Dolan Frye at the organ. Casket bearers were Hubert Gene Skucius, Frank Larkins, Ronald Mohr, Joe Duey, Lawrence Eickman, Fred Schriber. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
