Florence died at the Nicol Home in Glasco Saturday, Dec. 3, 1988 at the age of 101 years. Florence was born Nov. 6, 1887 on the original homestead of her family about five miles north of Glasco. She was the daughter of Milton and Mary Ellen Butler Gray. She had one sister, Matie, who was married to George Nowels. When she was about one year old she moved, with her family, to a farm about four miles southwest of Glasco which was homesteaded by her uncle Asaph Butler. From there she attended rural school District No. 42. In her childhood she was baptized in the Christian faith at a baptismal ceremony conducted by a Presbyterian minister in the Solomon River. In 1906 she had to quit high school to be at home to take care of her mother who died that year. She later worked as a telephone operator and continued in that job until her marriage to Frank C. Bundy July 29, 1908. They lived on the family farm from 1909 until 1960 when they moved to Glasco. Frank died in 1961. She had an indomitable spirit which allowed her to adequately care for herself well into her advanced years. She is survived by her two sons, Curtis, Wichita, and Roy, Aurora, Colo., two daughters-in-law, Angela and Willa; five grandchildren, Mike, Larry, Mary, John and Tom; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan, Monica, Devin, Erica, Laura, Richard and Michael; two nephews, Guy and Quentin Nowels; three nieces, Alice Wagner, Naomi Odette and Betty Lee Bray. Interment was by the side of her husband and mother in the Glasco Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Beck, Dana Embree, Roy Halderson, Jim Hurley, Jesse Martin and Joe Smith. Music was provided by Elizabeth Lee Chestnutt with Marilyn Harwood at the organ. Memorials may be left to the Glasco Senior Citizen Center.
