Lester Pearson presided at the 1:30 p.m. rites from the First Christian Church, Woodbine. Vocalist was Max Poe, with Bob Smith presiding at the organ. Bearers were Tim, Michael, Donn, Dennis and David Alvis and Danny Ulmer. Interment was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Missouri Valley, with Fouts Funeral Home of Woodbine in charge. Floyd A. Alvis was born August 2, 1906, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Alvis. He grew to adulthood in the Logan area, and attended schools there. In February, 1930 he was married to Mary Anna Corbett. The couple farmed for a time near Orson, then in the Modale vicinity. They later moved to rural Woodbine, where they were also occupied in farming. Mrs. Alvis died in July, 1963. Mr. Alvis was a farmer for over 30 years, spending the rest of his life in the Woodbine vicinity. Following his retirement, he resided in the city proper. The deceased was a Charter Member of the Woodbine Saddle Club, a one-time Kiwanian, and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine. Preceding him in death, other than his wife and parents, was one daughter, Patricia Ann, who died at age 4. Surviving are his children, James of Woodbine; Mrs. Charles (Mickey) Ulmer of New Port, Ark., Mrs. James (Linda) Parker of Villisca; a brother Kenneth and sister Hazel Metcalf, both of Woodbine; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a number of other relatives and many friends.
