Terry, a resident of Chouteau county since 1910, passed away about 1:39 a.m. Sunday morning, May 16th, while enroute from Loma to St. Clare hospital in Fort Benton. A coroner's jury was impaneled Monday afternoon and at the hearing it was brought out that Mr. and Mrs. Terry and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Erwin, of this city, had gone for a drive to the Terry ranch early Saturday evening and returning they stopped at the Pepper Pot in Loma about 9 o'clock and remained there during the evening. Testimony showed that Mr. Erwin was dealing a blackjack game after arriving there and that during the course of the game an argument arose between him and George Lippert, Jr., and the latter became quite abusive and finally the two went outside where Erwin was "knocked out" by Lippert. Mr. Terry, the evidence showed, came out after Erwin was down, making some remarks about going inside and gambling in any way, whereupon it was alleged that he was struck and knocked backward by Lippert over a grease rack, but was apparently not too badly hurt. He was assisted to his feet and walked into the Pepper Pot. He complained about his shoulder hurting terribly and soon thereafter went out to the car and the Terrys and Erwins started to Fort Benton. Several miles out of Fort Benton, Mrs. Terry testified that he gasped and it is thought passed away at that time. After reaching the hospital Dr. J. S. McDede was called and found that Mr. Terry was dead. Floyd Isaac Terry was born March 28, 1892, in Michigan, where he resided until 1910, when he came to Montana and this county, homesteading here and continuing farming and stockraising during all of his residence. He had not been in good health for the past couple years, suffering from heart trouble and cause of death was listed as coronary sclerosis. Mr. Terry was united in marriage in Fort Benton in 1914 and is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Pat Erwin, Fort Benton; Mrs. Gilbert Scott, Loma; Mrs. Joe Wood, Geraldine; Mrs. Leonard Roark, Big Sandy; Lowell and Glen, Big Sandy; Charles and Ernest, Fort Benton. Three other children preceded him in death. He is survived by three brothers, Charles Terry, of Alhambra, Calif.; Lewis and Harold, of Pontiac, Mich.; and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the Benton Funeral Home chapel on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and will be conducted by the Rev. Dale Harter, pastor of the Christian church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The relatives here have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
