Description	:	Died age 33. Inscription: "Wife of S.W. Lee" Francis Lucinda Snow married Samuel Winters Lee March 5, 1856, in Greene County, Missouri. A few weeks later Samuel and Lucinda joined a wagon train and headed for California. They arrived around the first of October that year. In 1860 Samuel and Lucinda lived in Yount Township, Sebastopol, Napa County. Son George was born in 1857 and son Luther in 1859. (2) Several letters written to their relatives back in Missouri have been kept for years by the family. In a letter to her sister-in-law, Louisa (Lee) Thompson, written from Lower Lake in July, 1870, Lucinda talks about current events in her family and community life. (3) She relates that they "have eight months of public school" and "a very good teacher", and that the children "are learning very fast". She says the temperature has been very hot, "as warm as I have ever experienced in my life". There was a "barbacue" and "grand ball" held on the Fourth of July. She attended the bar-b-que but not the ball. Lucinda died about three years after this letter was written. Her family continued to live in the Napa-Lake county area for the remainder of their lives. According to family records, Samuel W. Lee was born August 21, 1830, in Blount County, Tennessee, and died October 9, 1902, in Yolo County, California. He never remarried. In the 1900 census he was registered as an "orchardist" in Capay Township, Yolo County. (4) His grave site has not been located by this writer.
