Morford, who came to Malvern in 1873, and spent the greater part of his life here, died early Friday morning in the home of his son, Charles, after an illness of some three weeks of pneumonia and other complications. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church in Malvern, conducted by Rev. J.F. Bingaman, pastor of the Glenwood M.E. church of which Mr. Morford was a member, assisted by Rev. E.E. Goodrich. Music was furnished by Mrs. F.R. Chantry, Mrs. L.A. Talbott, R.W. Criswell, and Allen Wortman, with Mrs. G.S. Eacrett as accompanist. Interment was in the Malvern cemetery. The pall bearers were Eward Knight, Frank Hertz, L.A. Talbott, Ira Mullen, F.R. Chantry, and Clarence Kearney. Mr. Morford had been making his home with his son, Cyrus, in Glenwood for some time past and about a month ago came over to visit his son, Charles, and his daughter, Mrs. Mary Thomas, and while here was taken sick and never recovered. The following obituary was given: Francis M. Morford, son of William and Phoebe Morford, was born May 14, 1847 in Valpariso, Ind., and died July 1, 1932, at his home in Malvern, Iowa. He came from Indiana with his parents to Albia, Iowa, where he lived until September, 1873, when he came to Malvern and has lived in Mills county practically all of the time since. He was united in marriage May 17, 1868 to Cordelia Day Gibson in Albia, and to this union were born seven children. The oldest child, Arlando, preceded him in death April 2, 1904. The living children are: A.C. of Eugene, Ore.; C.H. of Glenwood; S.J. of Snyder, Colo.; C.N. of Malvern; Mrs. Mina Buckingham of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Myrtle Good of Emerson. There are also two stepdaughters: Mrs. Mary Thomas of Malvern and Mrs. Eliza Jones of Gordon, Nebr., seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. When a mere boy he united with the M.R. church, but there being no church of that denomination in Malvern he joined the Methodist Episcopal church. Living with his children in different places since the death of his wife in 1912, he gave his letter to the M.E. church in Glenwood. He was an industrious honorable citizen, honest in his relations with his fellow-men. He was a loving husband and father, making no difference between his own and his step-children. He was always faithful to his Lord and the church, attending the services when at all able, a student of the Bible. He loved to read his Bible and was perfectly ready and willing to go to his Lord and Master."
