He had 12 siblings, Anna Caroline, Evovesa Elovenia "Lou", Sophia, Charles Henry, John Franklin- Daniel Enos (twins), Sarah Elizabeth, Joseph Albert, William Martin, Addison Orlando, Perry Milton and Harrietta Isabella "Hattie". He was raised on the Fretz homestead near Pettit, Indiana. When he was 20 he moved to Gage County Nebraska where he worked on a farm, his brothers Charles, John, William and Addison also came to Nebraska. Francis and Addison both moved to Richfield, Nebraska where they bought farms. Francis married Eva Elizabeth Taylor March 18, 1902 and they had six children, Omer Francis, Mildred Elizabeth, Lloyd Tilman, Dorothy Louise, Marvin Henry and Vera Mae. They raised their family on this farm where they lived for 45 years. They bought another farm on the Platte River also. Francis also raised prize winning draft horses that he trained in his large barn. They had a huge orchard and vineyard, with a large garden. After the family was grown they sold these farms and moved to LaBelle, Missouri in 1942 where they bought another farm, only staying for 18 months before selling and moving back to Portal,Nebraska on an acreage. Francis started working at Crown Products until he retired in Papillion. Grandpa Reis was a hard worker and loved his animals, especially his beautiful horses. He showed them at the fairs winning many ribbons. The Hinrichsen grandchildren remember how delicious his big watermelons were on a hot summer day, and the smell of the bacon, sausages and hams that hung in the smokehouse.
