(Source: Thayer County, NE Marriage Records) ==================== Frank Harry Rieke was born March 6, 1870 at Barrington, Illinois and passed away November 20, 1946 at his home in Chester at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 14 days. He moved with his parents to Chester when he was 16 years of age and this community has been his home for the past 60 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Olive Brown on August 15, 1894. To this union twelve children were born. His wife and nine children have preceded him in death. On July 17, 1935, he remarried Mrs. Viola Smith of Chester. Frank as he was known, was a friend to everyone and certainly everyone was his friend. He was a kind father and a kind husband. He leaves to mourn his passing three children - one son, Harry Rieke of Nemaha, Nebr.; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Allsman of Dayton, Oregon and Mrs. Nora Eickman of Chester; seven stepchildren - Alva Smith and Cleo Smith of Selah, Washington, Lloyd Smith of Chester, Mrs. Gladys Mohr, Mrs. Hazel Reitz and Mrs. Iva Cramer all of Superior; one brother, John Rieke of Chester and one sister, Mrs. Ida George of Edwardsville, Ks.; twenty-six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Services were held at the Methodist Church in Chester, at 2 a.m. Saturday afternoon, in charge of the pastor, Rev. W.C. Fawell. Burial was in the family lot of the Chester Cemetery.
