Read More	FREDERICK STERLING BURIED WEDNESDAY Former Cashier Of Bank Of Crisfield Died Monday Mr. Frederick Sterling, a member of one of the pioneer Somerset county families, died at his home in Asbury on Monday, after a prolonged illness, at the age of 85 years. He was the son of the late John and Sara Sterling, and was born in Asbury District May 11, 1862. Mr. Sterling was connected with the old Bank of Crisfield for a number of years, and was cashier of that institution for a long time, being the second person to hold the position after the bank was organized and opened for business. Retiring quite a number of years ago, he purchased a home outside the city and devoted himself to gardening and to investments. He was regarded as an authority on stocks and bonds, and even in his later years maintained an active interest in securities. While as a young man his health was none too robust, after his retirement his daily life was carefully planned, with the result that he lived to a grand old age. A familiar figure to the people of the community, Mr. Sterling was admired and respected by everyone. He was a very courteous gentleman, soft spoken, friendly, and an enjoyable companion. When a young man he became a member of Chesapeake Lodge No. 147, A. F. & A. M. and a few years ago was made a life member of that order. He loved the lodge work and was regular in attendance as long as his health permitted. Funeral services were held at the Howard & Covington Funeral Home on Main street Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church, which Mr. Sterling attended. Interment was in Asbury cemetery, where Chesapeake Lodge held its funeral ceremonies for the departed brother. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mamie Carman Sterling, and three sons, John C. Sterling of Newport News, Va., Wilbur F. Sterling of Washington, D. C., and Ringgold L. Sterling, of Crisfield, two sisters, Miss Bessie Sterling and Miss Hannah Louise Sterling of Crisfield, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
