GAYLORD PILCHER DIES WITH PNEUMONIA The grim reaper has again visited this community, bowing our heads with sorrow, when Mrs. Gaylord M. Pilcher passed away at her home near Delphos, Friday evening, leaving a two weeks babe. Frieda May, the daughter of Walter P. and Eva L. Duvall, was born in Lincoln County, Kansas, on the 24th of May, 1905, and departed this life for the Realm of the Eternal Blest, from her home near Delphos, Kansas, at 7:00 P.M. on the 31st of August, at the age of 29 years, 4 months and 7 days. She grew to womanhood in Arion Township, near the Fairview school, where she received her early schooling. On the 25th day of June, 1924, she was married to Gaylord M. Pilcher, and to this happy union were born five children. She was ever a home loving mother and was never happier than when doing for those whom God had entrusted in her keeping, ever laboring for their happiness and comfort. To know her was to love her, and the tributes of love as expressed by her friends are many and bring comfort to our stricken hearts. She leaves to mourn her going, but not as those who have no hope, her husband, five children, Lourena May, Norman Gay, Evelyn Pauline, Melvin Dwight and infant, Norris Eugene; her parents, two brothers, Otha C. and Lester E., both of Concordia, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Glenn Buckland, one brother, Melvin, preceding her in death. A host of other relatives and friends who will mourn her untimely going. (poem, "Away" by James Whitcomb Riley) Services were held Sunday afternoon, at 3 o'clock at the Methodist Church, Rev. Fish of Delphos officiating, and burial in the Glasco Cemetery.
