Funeral services were held Saturday October 16, from the Sinn Funeral Home in Schleswig and Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church with Rev. Otte of Mapleton officiating. Burial was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig. Friedrich Theodor Petersen was born June 25, 1886, the son of Thomas and Friederike (Peters) Petersen in Ida County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 30, 1908, he was married to Ella Petersen. They farmed for three years near Schleswig and then moved to a farm near Battle Creek, where they lived for 16 years. They then moved to a farm they purchased near Arthur and retired in 1946. He is survived by his wife, Ella; one son, Vernus Petersen of Sheldon; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lorene) Jessen and Mrs. Rolland (Elaine) Stromberg of Polk, Nebr.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Greta Knudsen of Schleswig; and one brother, Hans Petersen of Waterloo.
