Interment was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig. Ella Catharina Petersen, daughter of Lorenz and Wilhelmina (Suckstorf) Petersen, was born March 10, 1885 in Crawford County, Iowa. Interment was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig. Ella Catharina Petersen, daughter of Lorenz and Wilhelmina (Suckstorf) Petersen, was born March 10, 1885 in Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. On December 30, 1908, she was married to Friedrich T. Petersen in Schleswig. They farmed near Schleswig for three years, near Battle Creek for 16 years and then near Arthur. After Mr. Petersen's death in 1954, she purchased a home in Battle Creek, where she lived until December 31, 1966, when she moved into Eventide a retirement home in Denison. She later moved into Good Samaritan Home in Holstein and then to Willow Dale Home in Battle Creek, where she passed away on March 29, 1973, at the age of 88 years. She was a long time faithful member of The United Church of Christ of Schleswig and the Women's Guild of the church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lorene) Jessen of Battle Creek and Mrs. Rolland (Elaine) Stromberg of Polk, Nebr.; one son, Vernus Petersen of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alex (Amelia) Miller; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Loren Petersen; two brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandson. Schleswig Leader, Apr 5, 1973
