Son of John Crawford and Samantha Baxter OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, November 30, 1961 CRAWFORD Garfield Crawford, youngest son of John and Samantha Baxter Crawford, was born June 17, 1880, and passed away at his home near Norwood on Nov. 18, 1961, at the age of 81 years, five months and one day. His entire life was spent in Lucas county. Poor health limited his activities for many years. On Nov. 28, 1906, he was united in marriage to Frankie Welch of Oakley. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive and were at his bedside at the time of his passing. Surviving are four sons, Deloss, Gerald and John of Lucas, Cecil of Des Moines and one daughter, Mrs. Doris Day of Des Moines. Also 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Nine, Mrs. Bertha Snuggs of Chariton and Mrs. Lulu Grater of Prineville, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 3, 1955, and one son, Brice, March 4, 1942. In his early life, he was converted at the United Brethren church at Norwood.
