Read More	Mooresville Times, March 9, 1923 George A. Keller, oldest son of Frederick and Christena Keller was born near Mooresville, Ind. November 28, 1859, entered the life beyond March 2nd, 1923, aged 63 years, 3 months and 4 days. His entire life was spent in this community and has been an open book, known and read by all who were in touch with him. His education was such as the common schools of near three score years ago afforded and he also learned much from observation of men who had made a success of life and applied their methods in a very practical way in the administration of his own affairs. He was united in marriage with Miss Carrie Albertson, of Hendricks County, November 2nd 1887, who with two sons, Roy of Detroit, Mich. and Walter of Mooresville survives him. There is also one grandson, Roy Junior of Detroit. Another son Fred preceeded his father in death five years ago. This first great sorrow in the home was "As the breaking of a deep fountain" that could not be sealed, until we, with time close up the great account." In the year 1885 he engaged in the Implement and Hardware business in a little old wooden building on South Indiana Street. From this small humble beginning, by close application to business and systematic arrangement of all details, he built for himself a large substantial trade and several years ago erected one of the best business houses in the town. He did not allow himself to make any agreement or undertake any project until he saw his way clear to meet every obligation. At the beginning of the year he retired after nearly 3 [35] years of diligent, active business. He had a birth-right membership in the Friends Church and attended services quite regularly until a few years ago, when defective hearing and infirmities resulting from an accident that near proved fatal, caused him to prefer the rest and quietness of his home. He was reared by Christian parents and also learned from them lessons of thrift and economy and their patient efforts and wise consul were rewarded, and they lived to see him, what some writer of long ago said was the nobles work of God, an honest man, this is the example he left to his children and to those who grew up around him. He was devoted to his family and friends, he also remembered the Scripture injunction "Thine own friends and thy father's friend forsake not" and he made frequent visits to Indianapolis to see his "father's friend" John Henry Rusie, and was deeply grieved at the news of his death little realizing how soon he also would pass over the Great Divide. When he retired from business it was his intention that he and Mrs. Keller should enjoy some of the fruits of their years of labor, and had planned to spend much of the summer in travel and visits with friends. It seems pathetic that after years of toil, this pleasure should be denied them and earthly hopes and joys so soon be shattered, and we can only reconcile ourselves with the thought that "Someday we'll better understand." Keller, Walter Keller and Roy Keller. ---------------- PROMINENT BUSINESS MAN DIES George A. Keller, aged 63 years, died early Friday morning at his home on west Harrison street of pneumonia, which followed an attack of influenza. For more than thirty-five years Mr. Keller was actively engaged in the Hardware business, retiring last fall. About ten years ago he built one of the most substantial business rooms in town, for his stock of hardware. He was a man of sound business judgment. In all his dealings with the public he was found honest and upright. He had a birth-right membership in the Friends Church. Besides the widow, he is survived by two sons, Roy, of Formington, Mich.; and Walter, of this place and one grandson, Roy Jr. of the immediate family. The capacity of the Friends church was taxed to accommodate relatives and friends, who gathered there Sunday afternoon, to pay their last respects to George A. Keller, who died early Friday. The service was conducted by Rev. John Reagan of Carmel, assisted by Rev. J.E. Hartsuck; Mrs. Mary Jessup read the obituary, which was prepared by Mrs. Almira Hadley. Two hymns were sung by the church choir and Ralph Cook sang a solo, "Face to Face," all accompanied by Mrs. Harry Williams. The pallbearers were, H. W. Lindley, W. L. Jessup, Brake Nelson, W. H. Wilson, Jesse Wilson and Robert Nelson. The large number of floral offerings, heavily freighted with love and sympathy were borne by H. T. Leathers, W. O. Shufflebarger, C. L. Hallam, J. W. York, Calvin Bellows, Addison Sellars and E. F. Hadley. Relatives from out of town were: Robert Schminer, of Ashmore, ILL.; Mrs. John F. Mills, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Pearl Frye, of Hannibal, Mo.; Mrs. Cora Seaman, Mr. and Mrs. Stackhouse, Mr. and Mrs. Will Johnson, of Indianapolis; Mrs. J. O.
