Boone News Republican January 26, 1956 GEORGE ERICKSON Funeral services for George Erickson were held at Stratford, Friday, January 13, 1956 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Lawrence Anderson, pastor of the Stratford Lutheran Church officiating. Two hymns were sung by Mrs. Arthur Larson and Mrs. E.J. Johnson, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lloyd Angstrom. Pallbearers were Martin Westrum, Harold Westrum, Emil Erickson, Arvid Erickson, Walter Erickson and Tilford Erickson. Burial was at the South Marion cemetery. George Erickson, son of Martha, nee Nelson, and Erick Erickson, was born at Bollnäs, Sweden, February 19, 1874, and died January 10, 1956, at the home of his son, Chester Erickson at Madrid, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 22 days. Mr. Erickson was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sweden in June, 1888. He arrived in America March 6, 1890. He lived for a number of years in Stratford before moving to Des Moines, where he resided until 1923, when he returned to Stratford. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Larson on June 21, 1905. She died in January, 1911, and he was later united in marriage to Hilma Larson, July 3, 1913. She died September 24, 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson joined the Stratford Lutheran church in May, 1945. He had been a carpenter most of his life. The last six years he had been living with his son, Chester at Manson and at Madrid. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a brother and a sister. Survivors include a son, Chester; three grandchildren; four nieces; four nephews and numerous friends.
