Description	:	Stratford Courier September 24, 1936 Obituary Mrs. Martha Erickson Funeral services for Mrs. Erick Erickson were held Monday afternoon in the Baptist church and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A.E. Appelquist. He used for his text, Psalms 116:15: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Mrs. Everett Bergman and Mrs. A.E. Appelquist sang "Good Night and Good Morning" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Appelquist sang a Swedish solo, Mrs. Oscar Borg playing the accompaniments. Mrs. Martha Erickson, nee Nelson, was born in Bollnas, Sweden, Dec. 28, 1850 and died in the home of her son, George, in Stratford on Sept. 18, 1936, at the age of 85 years, 9 months, 21 days. She grew to young womanhood in her native land where in the year 1871 she was united in marriage to Erick Erickson. This union was blessed with three children, two sons and a daughter. The father and the daughter have preceded the mother in death. In April, 1890, she, with her husband, one son and one daughter came to America, the other son having preceded them to this country some time before. The family came direct to Stratford which place has been their home ever since, almost fifty years. Grandma Erickson was known by her friends as an unassuming lady, content with her lot in life and always busy at her duties even until the very last days of her long life. She will be greatly missed by her beloved ones and her friends. Left to mourn her death are her two sons, Nels and George, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
