Pall bearers were Joe Walters, Frank Conway, Ivan Heaton, Floyd Neal, Joe Strain, and George Ross and burial was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery southeast of Nodaway. John Hutton Bowers was born in Plymouth, Illinois, May 11, 1855, a son of George Bowers and Susannah Bowers. In April 1866, he came with his family and settled on a farm southwest of Brooks. He married Edvina M. Parcher on Janaury 2, 1884 at Corning. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm 5 miles northeast of Nodaway. In 1917 they moved to a farm one mile southwest of Nodaway and in 1926 went to California where they resided four years afterward returning to the farm southwest of Nodaway. The couple had no children. Mr. Bowers is survived by a brother, G. H. Bowers and a sister, Mrs. Edna White, both of Villisca. Villisca Review, Thursday, June 19, 1941, page 8 John H. Bowers was born in Knox County, Illinois on May 11, 1855 and departed this life June 16, 1941 at his home near Nodaway at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 5 days. He was the son of George Bowers and Susanna Schuler. they came to Iowa in 1868 and settled in Adams county, Iowa, where he made his home with the exception of four years in California. He married Edvina Maggie Parcher on January 2, 1884 in Corning, Adams County, Iowa. They spent 67 happy married years together. He leaves to mourn his wife and foster son John T. Bowers of Nodaway and two grandchildren John T. and Margaret Lee Bowers, one brother George Harrison Bowers of Villisca, Iowa, one sister Emma Parcher of Villisca. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death. He was converted in the Presbyterian Church about twenty years ago. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway Wednesday, June 18, 1941 conducted by Rev. Forest Retmer and Rev. Lewis Konable. Music was furnished by the Blackwood Brothers Quartet. Pallbearers were Joe Walters, Frank Conway, Floyd Neil, Ivan Easton, William Karper, and John Strain.
