Read More	George Wineland Passed On June 22 Once more the Angel of Death has called an early day resident of Osborne county in the person of George Wineland, who came to this county with his parents in 1874 to make his home on a homestead on Kill Creek in Mt. Ayr township. He has continued to reside in this county and spent the greater part of his life as a farmer and stockman. He has made Osborne his home since 1815. For the past ten months he has been ill in a nursing home in Kansas City where the final summons came last Saturday. George Wineland, son of John and Jane Pearse Wineland, was borne Nov. 14, 1869, at Luin Grove, Iowa, and departed this live June 22, 1946, at 9:00 p.m. in Roanoke Nursing Home in Kansas City, Mo., at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 8 days. When he was a very small he came with his parents to Jewell county and then to Osborne county in 1874. The family settled on Kill Creek in Mt. Ayr township. Here he grew to manhood and took his place among the frontiersmen that were carving out homes in a country wich appeared to be only a great expanse of land. The hardships were many, but these pioneer people had great courage. In early life he was united in marriage to Ellen Goad. To this union two children were born, Buelah and Marvel. He spent a great part of his life as a farmer and stockman, a work he loved very much, but in 1915 he came to Osborne to help care for his invalid father. The responsibility was soon his alone, as his mother was called to death in October, so for ten years George lovingly cared for his helpless parent. In February, 1919, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Martha Peters. Their happiness was very short, for Martha passed away in a few short months. He was a lover of flowers and made the yard an object of beauty. When his health began to fail he went to Kansas City for treatments and spent the last ten months in the home of his niece, Mrs. Mattie Rose who cared for him as lovingly as any daughter could have cared for her father. Preceding him in death are three brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, William Wineland of Natoma, and Art Wineland of Alton; two children Mrs. Beulah Beason and Mrs. Marvel Williams, two step children, Ethel and Verl Peters and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 25, at 10 o'clock in the Methodist church in Osborne. Interment was made in Kill Creek Cemetery.
