Read More	OBITUARY AND ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ABOUT GEORGIA OBERT OBITUARY: Georgia Iota Kennedy was born February 23, 1899, in Odessa Township, Jewell County, Kansas, to David Ernest and Arminta Jane Kennedy, and left this earthly life on February 14, 1970, just nine days before her 71st birthday. She was next to the oldest of thirteen children, so she was a big help to her parents in caring for the younger children. She was married to Leo Obert on October 12, 1927, and their home was blessed with a son, Carroll. They made their home on different farms in the Esbon vicinity, living in the Salem community since 1939. Georgia’s church membership was transferred to the Salem Methodist Church in 1950, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Forrest, David, Lyall, Byron, James, and Donald. She leaves her husband, Leo; son, Carroll, and wife, Colleen; two granddaughters, Eileen and Shelly; a step-son, Glen, and three step-grandsons, Darrell, Gordon, and Mickey Obert; three sisters, Frances Obert, Jessie Muck, Vivian Ost; three brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Morris; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Her home and family were her first consideration and her grandchildren were very important to her. All her family will long remember her love and concern for them. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Esbon on February 18 at 2 p.m. It was conducted by Rev. Loren Silsby, assisted by Rev. Earl Enyeart. Music was furnished by Earl Silsby and Carl Sapp with Mrs. Carol Kindler as pianist. Casket bearers were Ora Hills, Bryce Dodd, H. E. Avison, George Sanderson, Lewis Gastley, and Jake Lamkins. (Newspaper and date not recorded for the obituary clipping.) ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Georgia Kennedy, like all of her 12 siblings, attended the one-room Lone Tree School. Her future husband Leo Obert also attended that school. There are school photos that have Georgia Kennedy, her sister Frances, Leo Obert, and his brother Francis all at Lone Tree School at the same time. Georgia subsequently married Leo and her sister Frances married Leo’s brother Francis. The family story is that Georgia and Leo were initially interested in each other when they were young, but that did not work out due largely to pressures and interference from others.
