Description	:	Gerald Jacob Huckins, son of William and Esther Mitchell Huckins, was born July 8, 1907, on a farm south of Chester and died at the Republic County Long Term Care Unit in Belleville on July 5, 1986, at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 27 days. He attended Excelsior rural school for seven years and graduated from Chester High School in 1925 and from Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebr., in 1927. He was united in marriage to Mildred O. George at Clay Center on February 4, 1935, and to this union one daughter was born. ... He attended Excelsior rural school for seven years and graduated from Chester High School in 1925 and from Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebr., in 1927. He was united in marriage to Mildred O. George at Clay Center on February 4, 1935, and to this union one daughter was born. They lived south of Chester where they were engaged in farming. He continued to farm after moving to Chester in 1949, retiring in 1976. For 45 years he clerked livestock commission sales and purebred cattle auctions retiring in 1981. He became a member of the Chester United Methodist Church in 1924. He was a past member of Chester Town Board, Lions Club and Community Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doyall and Willis; one sister, Guila George. He is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Sharyn) Baybayan of Norwalk, Iowa; one granddaughter, Kristie White; a grandson, Jody White; one sister, Mrs. Shirley Krause of Peabody, Kans. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church of Chester on July 8, conducted by Revs. Russell Terman and Marlon Loftis. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
