Description	:	William O. Huckins was born November 24, 1883 in Republic County, Kansas, the son of Jonathan and Anna Crosby Huckins. He attended the Excelsior School and later went to high school in Chester. On November 30, 1904 he was united in marriage to Esther M. Mitchell. To this union were born five children: Guila Faye, Gerald J., Doyall Wilmer, Willis Burns and Shirley B. He was... Read More	William O. Huckins was born November 24, 1883 in Republic County, Kansas, the son of Jonathan and Anna Crosby Huckins. He attended the Excelsior School and later went to high school in Chester. On November 30, 1904 he was united in marriage to Esther M. Mitchell. To this union were born five children: Guila Faye, Gerald J., Doyall Wilmer, Willis Burns and Shirley B. As a child William attended the United Brethern Church in the country where his father sometimes preached. In later years he attended the Methodist Church in Chester after his home church disbanded. He was a member of the Chester Odd Fellows Lodge No. 135. He was always a good neighbor, devoted to his family and very patient in his illness. He passed away Nov. 5, 1958 at his home. He was preceded in death by two sons, Doyall Wilmer and Willis Burns; his parents; two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters, Mrs. J.L. George of Chester and Mrs. W.V. Krause of Peabody, Kans.; one son, Gerald of Chester; two grandchildren Richard Allen George and Sharyn Dee Huckins; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Costello of Omaha and Mrs. Esther Dewert of Cambria, Califr.; one brother, Ervin of Chester; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Chester Methodist Church on Friday afternoon, Nov. 7, Rev Duane Hutchinson officiating. Mrs. F.C. Duey and Mrs. L.W. Eickman sang, accompanied by Mrs. F.C. Haifleigh at the organ. Active pallbearers were Fred Duey, Joseph Duey, Arthur Wendling, Fred Thompson, Julius Gausman and Lawrence Eickman. Honorary bearers were Louis Eickman, G.E. Waring, James Burton, Harley Herald, Chester Sawyer and E.M. Boylston. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery with Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
