Read More	THE DUNLAP REPORTER 2005 Gerald Vincent Weber was born December 19, 1929, the son of Herman and Marie Weigand Weber. He died Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Neb., at the age of seventy-five. Jerry grew up on a farm northwest of Dunlap. He attended rural school and graduated eighth grade with honors. After completing his education he helped his father farm and worked for other area farmers. In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served as an airplane mechanic for four years while stationed in Japan during the Korean War. On January 12, 1955, Jerry was united in marriage to Wanda Lea Jones. The couple made their home on a farm near Dunlap and were blessed with the birth of two daughters, Susan and Lucille. Jerry farmed for a short time and then worked as a mechanic in Onawa before moving to Dow City. In Dow City Jerry worked at Ettleman's and then operated a Standard Oil truck for several years. Jerry later worked as a security guard at Farmland and as an ambulance driver for Crawford County Hospital. He worked for the town of Dow City as the maintenance man and police officer for ten years. After health problems developed he started a small engine repair shop. Jerry served as a volunteer on the Dow City Rescue Unit, a member of the city council, and mayor of Dow City. He loved his family, his dog and cat, and spending time with his neighbors. In his leisure time Jerry enjoyed fishing, traveling in his RV, attending antique tractor shows and bluegrass music shows. He was a twenty-year cancer survivor who had a strong faith in God. Preceding him in death were his parents; one infant brother and two sisters, Helen Bavier and Ella Vonesch. Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Dow City; two daughters, Susan of Dow City and Lucille of Austin, Texas; one sister, Ruth Hoffmeier of Denison; two brothers, John Weber and his wife Doris of Dunlap and Dick Weber and his wife Stella of Glidden; many other relatives and friends; and special neighbors, Bill, Becky, Marc and Jill Eimermann. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Donna Weiss and Ace Ettleman officiated the services and graveside rites held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Organist Beverly Custer provided accompaniment for the congregational hymn "Hymn of Promise." Special service music played included "If I Can Help Somebody," and "Angels Among Us." Those serving as pallbearers were: Bill Eimermann, Shawn Gordon, Bryce Cross, Tom Weber, Fritz Baldwin, Brian Weber, Joe Berens, and Bob Weber. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Community of Christ Women's Department. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
