Glenn was born in Helena, June 6, 1923, to Jack and Clara (Jones) Williams. He graduated from Broadwater High School in Townsend in 1941. He graduated from Broadwater High School in Townsend in 1941. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946. He was a recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal in October 1945. Glenn and Helen M. Gebhardt were married in Helena on July 17, 1947. Glenn worked for Don’s Market in Townsend from 1947 to 1954, and he was the produce manager at Lundy’s Supermarket in Helena for a 10-year period. Glenn and Helen then were owners of Glenn’s Western Bar in Helena from 1977 to 1987. Glenn enjoyed playing pinochle, road trips with his good friend (the late) Tom Brown. He also enjoyed football and baseball games, horseracing and spending time with his family and friends on his patio. Glenn was a 59-year member of the American Legion in Townsend. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and JoAnn Williams in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two granddaughters and their husbands, Kirsten (Dan) Mergenthaler and Kim (J.J.) Lamb; four great-grandchildren, Josie and Jillian Mergenthaler and R.J. and Sidney Lamb, all of Helena. Visitation hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 23, and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at Retz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at the Retz Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow the service. A reception will be announced at service time. Interment with military honors will be at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Memorials in Glenn’s name are suggested to Hospice of St. Peter’s, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601 or to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society P.O. Box 4455 Helena, MT 59604.
