She was born in Grayson County, Va. on December 31, 1916 to John Sherman and Verdie Victoria Vaughan Porter. She was the widow of Henry Thomas Honaker. Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Theresa and Larry Patton of Goodview, Va., Vicky Olinger of Fries, Va., Annabelle Robinson of Hillsville, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda Honaker of Richmond, Va., Jim and Shelia Honaker of Fries, Va.; three granddaughters; five grandsons; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; several stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Golda was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Porter Goodykoontz. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Leland Smith officiating. The family will receive friends anytime after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Golda in Spring Valley. The family requests no flowers please and donations may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church or to the American Lung Association.
