He attended North Argo School in rural Craig and farmed in the Craig area until retiring to Fremont in 1994. On July 30, 1949 he married Jacqueline Dinehart in Papillion. Gordon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont and a former member of the United Methodist Church at Craig and a past church board member there. He also served on the Argo Cemetery board for several years and served on the rural Fire Board at Craig. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Fremont; son, Charles Nelson, of Fremont; daughter, Karen (Mrs. Wayne) Parker of Fremont (two brothers, Axel and Mary Nelson of Craig, CO and Jerry and Mildred Nelson of Omaha; three sisters Ethel Anderson of Oakland, Ines Toland and Goldie Lay both of Sun City, CA; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Timothy Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
