Description	:	Funeral services for Gustave Leiske 87 were held Monday May 11, 1981 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia, North Dakota. The Rev. Arthur J.K. Meether Pastor officiated. Burial was at the Zion 11 Lutheran Cemetery rural Fredonia. Military Honors were by the Fredonia Post of American Legion. He was baptized in 1894 in the Lutheran Faith. He came to the US in 1898 with his parents and settled in Delmont, South Dakota. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 12, 1908. He worked as a farm hand in this area until he was drafted into the army May 25, 1917. He served in the Meuse-Argonne offensive in Germany in World War 1. He was discharged April 25, 1919. On January 5, 1921 he was married to Martha Henke at Ashley. His wife Martha died in 1977. He passed away at the Ashley Hospital on May 6, 1981. He leaves to mourn his death the following children: Rueben, Benjamin and Edward Lieske all of Fredonia. John Lieske Renton, Washington. Mrs. John (Wanetta) Siegler, Aberdeen, SD, Mrs. Peter (Loretta) Cherinko of San Diego, California, Mrs. Lloyd (Esther) Krueger Fredonia. 7 Grandchildren, 5 great Grandchildren. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. Holte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
