In the passing of Mrs. Scott, this community loses one of its best members - a neighbor and a helpmate without a fault. Hannah Aurel Paine was born near Roseville, Warren county, Illinois, on the 15th day of October 1856, and passed away at her home near Oxford, Nebraska, 4 February 1924, at the age of 67 years, three months and nineteen days. In 1870 she moved with her parents to Monmouth, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood, and on 2 February 1873, she was united in marriage to Francis Marion Scott. In the fall of 1879, they moved to a homestead seven miles north of Oxford, where she lived until her death. To this union were born five children, one dying in infancy. The four who are still living, are George A., of McCook; Charles B., of Oxford; Walter B., of Bertrand, and Mrs. A.B. Miller, of McCook, all of whom were present at the last sad rites. She was a member of the Methodist church, and proved her faith by being a kind and loving mother. She will be greatly missed y her husband, children, and a host of friends. Following brief services at the home, the funeral was held at the Highland Union church Tuesday afternoon, Reverend T. E. Gillet officiating, and they body was laid to rest in the little cemetery beside the church. -------------------------------------------------------------- We wish to express our sincere thanks to all who so kindly assisted us in caring for our loved one.
