Liby Harold Edwin Liby, of Glasco, died March 22, 1958, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Concordia, Kansas. He was born June 23, 1907, the son of Theodore and Cynthia Liby, on a farm near Niles, Kansas. After six years of school at Niles, the family moved to Clay county near Morganville. Finishing grade school, Harold attended Morganville High School three years, then transferred to Clay Center, where he graduated with the Class of 1926. Moving with the family to Miltonvale, Kansas, Harold was employed by Cloud county as a grader operator. He was married to Reva felt July 9, 1931, at Clay Center, Kansas. After living a few years in Concordia, they moved to a farm in the Bethel community, east of Glasco. To them were born two children, Max and Charlotte. He united with the Glasco Methodist Church September 30, 1951. Early in life he started buying and selling livestock, and carried on to operating sale barns in partnership with others at Scandia, Kansas, Concordia, Kansas, and Minneapolis, Kansas. He and Reva then built and operated the Liby truck stop and cafe at Glasco, at the same time he continued to operate the farm. He took a lively interest in everything, most of all his semi-pro baseball team, the Glasco Eagles. He made a host of friends in livestock, oil and trucking business, and baseball circles in Central Kansas. Survivors are his wife, Reva, son and daughter of the home, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Liby of Glasco, and five brothers, Albert of Morganville, Kansas, Walter and LaVerne of Glasco, Carl of McPherson, Kansas, and Lloyd of Miltonvale, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rena. Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 1958, at the Methodist Church at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Music was by a male quartet composed of Louis Cool, Leon Amberg, W.E. Miller and Ronald King, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Robert Teasley. Casket bearers were Harland Harper, Frank Docking, Archie McKain, Bill Yount, Lynn Northern, and Charles Pierce. Interment was in Glasco Cemetery, with Haley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
