Hedwig Dorothea Louisa "Hattie" Goring Stafford She was born 27 Dec 1860, in Worth Township, Cook County Illinois, just 26 days after the family arrived from Germany. They had arrived on December 1st, 1860. She was baptized on 13 Jan 1861 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tinley Park, Bremen Township, Cook Co Illinois. I am in possession of a copy of this record. She was always called "Hattie" but was baptized Hedwig Dorothea Louisa Goring. I have no idea where the "Anna" middle name came from. Perhaps that's what she wanted it to be; Her parents and then existing family members had just immigrated from Volkenroda, Kreis Langensalza, Sachsen Coburg, Thuringen (ie. Prussia/Germany). Hattie was born just 26 days after the family arrived from Germany. I've always felt sorry for Great Grama Dora, being so far into her pregnancy when they were on their journey. My 2Great Grandparents and family resided in southern Cook Co Illinois until 1872, when they and a number of other relative families made the move to Floyd County Iowa. While residing in Cook County Illinois they lived in Worth Township, Orland Township and Bremen Township. Bremen Township is the township that Trinity Lutheran Church is located in. Back in the 1860s, Tinley Park was known as Bremen. I don't recall what year they decided to change the name to the present Tinley Park. contributor: Nettie H.
