Description	:	OAKLAND -- Helen Lord Gallagher, 94, of Oakland, passed away at home on Saturday, September 27, 2008. She was born in Jefferson City, Tenn., on May 28, 1914, the daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Annie (Inman) Lord. Helen attended schools in Belfast and Oakland, graduating from Williams High School in 1931. She then attended Farmington Normal School for two years and received a master's degree in education from the University of Maine at Orono. She married James William Gallagher and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing on January 6, 1979. Read More	OAKLAND -- Helen Lord Gallagher, 94, of Oakland, passed away at home on Saturday, September 27, 2008. She was born in Jefferson City, Tenn., on May 28, 1914, the daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Annie (Inman) Lord. Helen attended schools in Belfast and Oakland, graduating from Williams High School in 1931. She then attended Farmington Normal School for two years and received a master's degree in education from the University of Maine at Orono. She married James William Gallagher and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing on January 6, 1979. Helen taught school from 1933 through 1974 in the surrounding towns, the last 18 years at Waterville Junior High School. After retiring from teaching at the age of 60, she owned and operated her business "Through the Looking Glass" from 1974 to 2003. Besides her parents and her husband, Helen was predeceased by two daughters who passed away in 1995, Charlene Brown and Gloria Sturtevant; her brother, Frank Wheeler; two sisters, Grace Bickford and the Rev. Edith Morton; her granddaughter, Gena McKinnon, who passed away in 2004; her grandson, James Sturtevant, in 2007; and her great-grandson, Christopher Gagne in 2002. She will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., in Oakland, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, with Pastor Douglass W.
