She was born January 8, 1910, in Brown County near Reserve, the daughter of Jesse T. and Lena E. Hillyer Cheatham and had lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Grover was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Hiawatha and the United Methodist Women of the church. She was married to Ulysses M. Whaley in 1927. He died October 23, 1966. She was married to Oscar Grover October 23, 1971. He survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Egner, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Leland Whaley, Baldwin City; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Shaw, who died in 1960. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Helen Whaley Grover Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
