She was born March 24, 1914, at Tarnov and attended school there. On Jan. 27, 1948, she was married to Joseph Shemek at Tarnov, and they lived in Columbus since that time. Mrs. Shemek was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic church. Surviving are her husband; two children, Eugene, 4, and Bonnie, 2; her father, Frank Hanzel of Humphrey; four brothers, Mike of Platte Center, Francis of Humphrey, Joe and Stanley at home; three sisters, Mrs. John (Victoria) Swantek to Columbus, Mary and Anna, at home.
