Read More	Birth & death edits, middle names, and links to parents sent by zzrdwazz, 49490603 ******************** Glasco Sun, March 27, 1919, page 1: Helen Vera Elona Goff Helen Vera Elona Goff was born March 5, 1902, near Glasco, Kansas, and died at her home near Minneapolis, March 20, 1919, of Bronchial pneumonia following influenza, being seventeen years and fifteen days of age. For a number of years they lived near Simpson where Helen with the other members of her family attended Sunday school and church. Her common school education was in the county schools. When she wass ready for High school, they moved to Ottawa county, near Minneapolis, where she entered High School, this being her Sophomore year. In her Freshman year she won a certificate of penmanship. She loved music, being an apt pupil, working hard during the summer months and was quite accomplished for her years. Helen united with the Minneapolis Baptist church, April 23, 1914. She was an active worker in the church and Sunday school, being vice president of her class, the Willing Workers. She also belonged to the W.C.T.U. Helen was a bright and capable girl with a loving disposition. Her sunny disposition won her many friends among the older folks as well as the young folks. Her mother was her best friend, both looking forward to the school week-end when they could be together. Helen was preceded to the better world by a sister, Mabel, fourteen years old, and a brother, eighteen years old. She is survived by a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Goff, two sisters, Nellie Goff and Mrs. Lizzie Tobald, and two brothers, Wood and Charles -- these with other relatives and a host of friends, mourn her untimely death. "I hold it true what ere befall I feel it when I sorrow most, 'Tis better to have loved and lost, Than never to have loved at all." Funeral services were held Friday March 21st, at the home, conducted by Rev. Wilson of Asherville, and interment was in Glasco cemetery.
