Mr. Cool was born in Washington Co., Penn., February 9th 1824, moved to Morgan Co., Ohio in 1840. Married to Miss Mary Wells August 7, 1845, moved to Ills in 1857, to Washington County, Iowa in 1867, to Warren Co. in 1871 and to this city in 1885, where he has since lived. The old citizen who has been a helpless condition for the past seven years passed quietly away Thursday, April 18, 1901 at his home in this city. Mr. Cool was born in Washington Co., Penn., February 9th 1824, moved to Morgan Co., Ohio in 1840. Married to Miss Mary Wells August 7, 1845, moved to Ills in 1857, to Washington County, Iowa in 1867, to Warren Co. in 1871 and to this city in 1885, where he has since lived. He was a member of the 18th Missouri Infantry, it being made up largely of Illinois men, and received two wounds at the battle of Shiloh. After coming to this county he was recognized as a strong factor in politics and was elected a member of the Board of Supervisors, a position he filled acceptably. We knew him in the days of strong manhood before the paralyzing effects of disease sap[p]ed his strength. He was a citizen universally respected by the people of this county and held to the last friendship of all. Hendrix Cool was a good man and is without doubt in the enjoyment of that rest and peace he so earnestly craved during the long years of helplessness. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn. Warren Lodge No. 53, A. F. & A. M. Indianola, Ia., April 21, 1901. Whereas death has again invaded our midst, this time to take from us brother Hendrix Cool, Resolved, That we bear testimony to the esteem with which he was ehld as an honored citizen through the many years of his active life, and to the confidence which his uprightness won when in position of especial trust. That we recognize the christian spirit with which he bore long years of suffering till at last summoned from his bed of pain.
