She departed this life early Sunday morning, Sept. 15, 1912, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Noah Harper, near Glasco and was therefore 84 years, 3 months and 7 days old at the time of her death. When 9 years old she moved with her parents to Morgan county, Ohio, where she resided until 1852. In the late forties she was teaching public school in Ohio, going from home to home for her board and lodging, as it was the custom at that time for the patrons of the school to take turns in boarding the teacher. In 1852 she was married to Thomas Hudson Brown and moved with him to New Athens, Harrison county, Ohio, where they lived until 1863. From here they moved to LeGrande, Iowa, where they lived a short time and then returned to Dillons Falls, near Zanesville, Ohio. In 1878, 34 years ago, they came to Kansas and settled on a farm two miles east of Glasco where they resided until the death of the husband in 1907, since which time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harper. Thomas Hudson Brown, the husband of the deceased, who died at the age of 77, was the last to die of a family of 21 children, his father having been married three times. Elsie A. Brown, the deceased in her 85th year, is the last of a family of eleven children. To Elsie A. Brown and Thomas Hudson Brown were born nine children, two of whom died in infancy and seven of whom are still living. Of the seven living children, the following live in or near Glasco: Sarah A. Kappel, Margaret E. Barnum, Mary E. Harper, Anna M. Brassfield, Charles E. Brown. In addition to the above, John H. Brown lives in Zanesville, Ohio, and Robert Clarence Brown in Evanston, Ill. The deceased also leaves nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
