Henry Beyreis Died Saturday; Funeral Today Henry Beyreis, long an interesting figure of Nemaha county, died Saturday afternoon at the convalescent home near Seneca. It was believed he was about 87 years of age. The funeral is being held this Monday afternoon, with services at the Poppe Funeral Home at Bern, at 2:00, and burial at Friedens cemetery. Mr. Beyreis never married. Many will remembered his oddities n dress, the flowing whiskers he wore for many years, his getting about the country with motorcycle or old Model T. Also should be remembered that in his prime he was well-read and keen; that he served on school boards for a long period. We do not have the figures at hand but it was some 30 years. HENRY BEYREIS Henry Beyreis was born in Dekalb county, Illinois, on August 26, 1866. He passed away January 26, 1950, at Seneca, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 26 days. Mr. Beyreis came to Kansas with his parents at the age of six, and lived on the Beyreis homestead all of his life. For the past year or so he made his home in Seneca. He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Louis Beyreis, Garden City, Kansas and four sisters, Louise Haffner, Bern; Lydia Ramsey, Vaciville, Calif.; Carrie McDaniels, Oakhurst, Okla.; Rosie Meisner, Homewood, Kan.; and nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Beyreis served on the school board for about 40 years. He was always interested in young people and children in his community. He was always ready to help anyone in trouble or need, and was well known in the community for his kindness and for the many good deeds he preformed. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Poppe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Lowell Ferguson of the Friedens Evangelical Reformed church and interment was in the church cemetery. Clifford Boehmer and David Rinne sang two favorite hymns with Mrs. David Rinne as organist. Casket bearers were Henry Jauken, Herman Jauken, Carl Meier, Francis Korber, Ed Hecht, Frank Marteney.. Relatives here from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beyreis of Wichita, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beyreis of Garden City, Miss Leona Meisner of Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. John Reist of Horton.
