A little more than four score years ago there came to brighten the home of Henry Camp and Rebecca Gardner in Holmes County, O., a baby boy. Through the tender years of childhood, he was spared, growing to young manhood, and living out the allotted life of man. Today we are met to pay our last tribute of respect to that individual who has been known through all the years as Henry Camp. When a lad of seventeen the family moved to Williams County and later to Defiance County where he met Catherine Jones, the woman whom he chose to be separated with him from all the world in the holy sanctuary of the home. In 1855 they were joined in marriage and for a while resided in Defiance County. In 1867 they came to Williams County, locating on the farm in Florence Township which has since been their home. the story of hardships of these early years of pioneer life has been related often, and Mr. & Mrs. Camp patiently endured their share. Four children blessed the home, a son Emanuel, dying eleven years ago at the age of 31 years. Mr. Camp did not fail to put first things first in his life; he remembered his Creator in the days of his youth, and joined the church of the United Brethren in Christ at William Center at an early age. Upon changing his place of residence he united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Mt. Zion. His has been a quiet Christian life. "Finis" has now been written on the last page of his life's history, but the influence of such a life never ends. Since last February he has been in failing health and the end came on the morning of June 14. He was aged 80 years, 1 month and 29 days. Of the immediate relatives there are left two sons, Samuel of Hunterstown, Ind., and Edward who is still at home; one daughter Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, of West Unity; three grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. The daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Camp, who has been so faithful and patient in her administrations to both Mother and Father Camp is worthy of special mention. It is to such that Jesus says, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto Me. Let not your heart be troubled". Funeral services were held from the late home Sunday morning at 9:30, conducted by Rev. E.A. Lilly of Van Wert.
