He had suffered from a heart ailment several years and his condition became grave a week before he died. His physician ordered him to remain in bed but in spite of an active, buoyant spirit, he graually became worse until death claimed him. Mr. Eden was a son of John and Talke Hanken Eden. He was born March 10, 1888, at Langworthy, and in April of the same year he was baptized at St. John's Lutheran church by Rev. F. Von Strobe. He was confirmed April 5, 1903, by Rev. William H. L. Schuets. At this time his parents had moved to the homestead near Monticello where Henry died. April 18, 1912 he was united in marriage with Emma Ahlrichs. Three children were born to this union: Esther, Mrs. Carl Egger of Monticello; Dorothy, Mrs. George Shoop, of Chicago; and Tom, of Gulfport, Miss. In addition to these children and his wife, he is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert Balster, of Monticello. Two younger brothers, Wesley and Edward, preceded him in death. In addition to his farm work, Mr. Eden also engaged in the buying and selling of live stock. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the home and at 11:30 at St. John's church. They were in charge of Rev. Paul T. Gutknecht, and burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.
